Art Basel Miami Beach Kicks Off 2016 Show

CvdB_-_A_Pile_of_Stones (Medium)The 2016 Art Basel Miami Beach show kicked off this year’s art fair on Thursday, December 1 at the Miami Beach Convention Center. The show will last through Sunday, December 4 and features 269 galleries showcasing artwork by more than 4,000 artists from North America, Latin America, Europe, Asia and Africa. Modern and contemporary masters as well as some emerging will show  a variety of paintings, sculptures, installations, photographs and films.

A variety of ticket options are available for the show and may be purchased online in advance or at the event. The event itself will draw more than 70,000 people during its run.Gunther_Gerzso_Ancient_Walls

While the show itself draws strong crowds each day, the associated parties draw thousands more people out throughout the week. If you are looking for something to do this weekend, there is no shortage of events to pick from. Here are a few for you to consider.

Catwalk: A Night of Vogue. This events features MikeQ, False Witness, Gooddroid, Bonnie Beats and MC WillO Mizrahi at Sandbar Lounge. 10 p.m.  Friday, December 2. Sandbar Lounge is located at 6752 Collins Ave, Miami Beach. This event offers free admission. 

Paris Hilton. Wall 11 p.m. Friday, December 2. Wall is located at 2201 Collins Ave in Miami Beach. Tickets are $80.85 and may be purchased at 11 p.m. Friday, December 2, at wantickets.com.

Swerve Basel. This event features Sean Bang, Ye Ali, Twelve’len and Sam Stan at Miami Live at 8 p.m. Friday, December 2. Miami Live is located 912 71st St., Miami Beach. Tickets may be purchased for $20 at eventbrite.com.

Online-CatalogSites & Sounds Festival. This event features Télépopmusik, Alex Zelenka, DJ M.O.S., Dark Wave Disco, DJ Arkitek, Olivier Adamczyk, and more at noon on Friday, December 2, and Saturday, December 3 at Lot 45. Lot 45 is located at 47 NE 25th St., Miami. Tickets cost $25 to $125 at sitesandsoundsbasel.com.

All Day I Dream. This event features Lee Burridge, Gorje Hewek & Izhevski, and Oona Dahl at 2 p.m. Saturday, December 3, at a secret island location. Tickets are $20-$60 via residentadvisor.net.

The Electric Pickle Breakfast Club. This event features surprise guest DJs at 5:30 a.m. Saturday, December 3, at a secret island location. Tickets are $20-$70 via residentadvisor.net.

Denzel Curry Presents the Vortex, Mystery Box Edition Night Two.  This event features LajanSlim, Zoey Dollaz, Allan Kingdom, JK The Repear & Twelve’len, and Sick Feeling at 6 p.m. Saturday, December 3 at the Parisian Hotel. The Parisian Hotel is located at 1501 Collins Ave in Miami Beach. Tickets may be purchased for $10 at eventbrite.com.

III Points Art Basel: Acid Sundays, With Acid Pauli. This event will take place at 8 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at the Factory at Magic City Studios. The Factory at Magic City Studios is located at 6300 NE Fourth Ave., Miami. Tickets may be purchased for $18 to $23 via showclix.com.

Trans Pecos Presents. This event features Rachel Mason and Richard Kennedy at 6 p.m. Sunday, December 4 at the Parisian Hotel. The Parisian Hotel is located at 1501 Collins Ave in Miami Beach.Tickets are available for $10 through eventbrite.com.

Miami Is an Island. This event features Mr. Brown, Kumi, and Erick Paredes on Sunday, December 4, at the Anderson. The Anderson is located at 709 NE 79th St. in Miami. Admission is free.
